Genetic Testing

Well after taking to my OB at my last visit I am going to go to a specialist in Peoria for an in-depth ultrasound to check on genetics. Personally, it doesn't matter to me if my baby has problems because I will love it all the same. I was not happy with any of the genetic testing that they could offer me here in Galesburg and was going to skip all of it. My doctor explained to me that she would like to see me do some sort of testing as our hospital does not have the capabilities to take care of newborns with genetic problems. I don't want any false-positives and I definitely didn't want to do an Amnio with the risk associated with that. Apparently, this appointment will be a very detailed ultrasound. I will even get to see my 'little one' in 4D!! :) I go for this appointment on May 13th. Luckily, all of these tests are covered by insurance except for the blood test. It is called a 'Harmony' test. It picks up the baby's DNA through my blood and is super accurate I guess. I will not be having this blood test, however, as it costs $800 and insurance does not cover it!
Other than this news, I am just waiting for my next OB appointment on May 29th. I haven't gone out and bought anything yet for my 'little one' yet. I guess I am just holding off for a bit longer.
I have had to buy maternity clothes as nothing is fitting me anymore :) That proved more challenging than I thought. It is amazing how many stores do not carry maternity clothes! Thank heavens for Kohls!! I did order a few things online from Old Navy but I am just a person who likes to try things on which makes it troublesome.

  1. Sending a hello and wanted to comment that I can completely relate with maternity clothes - trying on is definitely a good thing to do! Old Navy is awesome IF you want to risk ordering without trying on! Best of luck to you as you continue through your pregnancy :) so excited for you!
